OFS CEO on the Protection of Financial Consumers in the Era of Digital Banking
OFS’ CEO, Ms Marina Baharuddin was among the panellists for the 2020 Malaysian Banking and Finance Conference which recently took place at the Hotel Istana Kuala Lumpur on the 23rd of July 2020. Ms Marina shared her views on the protection of financial consumers in an era of digital banking.
Among the topics discussed during the panel session were on how the fraudsters are more sophisticated now at finding new ways to scam people including the use of mule account and emphasised that the public must always be vigilant when using internet banking and e-wallet services to avoid succumbing to scammers.
Ms Marina further stated that consumers with disputes relating to direct financial losses against their financial service providers can refer to OFS, subject to OFS’ jurisdiction.
